The School of Humanities and Environmental Sciences at the University of Reading asked us to establish a style for a series of brochures that would serve the promotional needs of the many different postgraduate and undergraduate courses offered by departments within the School. Working within the current University branding we established layout templates that gave each department a distinct personality within the School. This was achieved by the selection of a harmonious colour palette that applied across the complete range of brochures and by the design of a series of simple icons which were used to discretely identify each individual department without conflicting with the more important School and university identities. The layouts use a variety of distinct typographical treatments to give expression to the different kinds of content within the copy.
